Receptions
Every exhibit at MCAC begins
with an opening reception, usually held the first Sunday
afternoon of the exhibit from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Receptions are free and open to the general public.
Please bring your family and friends, have some
refreshments, enjoy the artwork, browse through our gift
shop, and meet the exhibiting artists. Everyone is
welcome!
The admission fee to
Smallwood State Park is waived for all MCAC visitors. Just tell
the guard you are visiting the art
center.
Our
History
Mattawoman Creek Art Center
was founded in 1986 by a concerned group of local
citizens. They believed that the arts are
compelling and should have a more prominent place
in our lives and the lives of our children.
Where are
we?
We
are located in Smallwood State Park in Marbury,
MD - Visit our
Directions Page.
How
much is admission?
Admission to both the park and MCAC is
free. We are a nonprofit organization however,
and donations are greatly
appreciated.
When
are we open?
Our gallery is open Fridays, Saturdays
and Sundays from 11am to 4pm during scheduled exhibitions
and shows. Our office is open Mondays, Wednesdays
and Thursdays from 9am to 1pm. See Exhibitions and
Events for the full schedule.
The Art Center will be closed on Memorial
Day and Thanksgiving weekends

Who are
we?
We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all-volunteer
organization with members from all walks of
life, working together because we believe the arts should
have a legitimate and compelling place in our lives and
the lives of our children.
 What is our
Mission?

films, and seminars with professional artists for
participants of all ages, levels of experience, and
artistic involvement
-
Presenting exhibits of regional, national, and

MCAC is
the Perfect Party Place
Even if you have no artistic talent you can
claim the Mattawoman Creek Art Center as yours -- at
least for an afternoon or evening!
Rent the facility for a celebratory
event. The two galleries, the porch and/or the
large yard overlooking the Mattawoman Creek are available. If
your event is held in the early evening you'll
enjoy the splendid sunset over the neighboring marina. It
is a perfect location for making magical memories.
The rates are reasonable for a short
business meeting, an afternoon cocktail party or
evening wedding reception. Call the center or e-mail
us for more information.
MCAC receives support from Charles
County Commissioners, the Charles County Art
Alliance, Maryland State Arts Council, Benefactors
and MCAC's membership.
