appreciation of the visual arts in the Southern Maryland
community by:
Maintaining and operating the permanent facility
which will provide exhibition and studio/workshop space
for working artists;
Introducing new art forms, concepts, ideas,
through innovative programming;
Perpetuating a sense of community among artists
by the application of policies and procedures which will
facilitate a free exchange of ideas among artists and
the broader community;
Programming workshops, lectures, demonstrations,
films, and seminars with professional artists for
participants of all ages, levels of experience, and
artistic involvement;
Presenting exhibits of regional, national, and
international art;
Providing a space for civic and social events in
a setting enhanced by art.
MCAC is
the Perfect Party Place
Even if you have no artistic talent you can
claim the Mattawoman Creek Art Center as yours -- at
least for an afternoon or evening!
Rent
the facility for a celebratory event -- the two
galleries and the porch and/or the large yard
overlooking the Mattawoman Creek. Make sure the event is
early evening and you'll enjoy the splendid sunset over
the neighboring marina. It's a location that will make
your event a magical memory.
The
rates are reasonable for a short business meeting, an
afternoon cocktail party or evening wedding reception.
Call the center for information or e-mail us. You'll get a quick
response from our representative.
MCAC receives support from Charles
County Commissioners, the Charles County Art
Alliance, Maryland State Arts Council, Benefactors
and MCAC's membership.
